A Little Introduction

Image
Hello... My name is Sophie, I am 24 and I live in Cornwall with my Fiancé and my son Zachary who is nearly Two!! I am a HUGE wooden toy enthusiast and love creating little play set ups for Zach. I sometimes get questions about what I've used so I thought it would be a cool idea to start a blog (which I will probably forget about HAHA) I mainly use Instagram (@cornishmama17) and I love the little community of it, I am a brand rep for Rudi and Bear, Yes Bebe and also scribbles and sparkle! As a disclaimer, with Yes Bebe, if I post a link to something, it will be affiliated but I will also pop my code in the introduction section!! We also try hard to reduce our plastic consumption, we aren't perfect, far from it but we try. We use cloth nappies, reusable wipes, shampoo bars, organic clothes and reusable bottles and I may occasionally talk about that :) I love seeing Zach learn new things even if its something really simple like learning the word rocket or using manne...

Zach's 2nd Birthday Party

Image
Sorry I haven't posted in so long, we have had a rather manic few weeks here with birthday parties, driveways being built and our baby turning 2, but I am back and with some very gorgeous photos too! Zach wanted a Hey Duggee themed party this year and planning parties is literally my favourite thing to do! I always try and do a party without splashing out loads of money because quite simply, I'd rather get him an extra present and I also try and make most of the bits myself! I themed all the activity tables on Duggee badges, so we had the Stick badge, Drawing badge, Bouncing badge and the Sandcastle badge! I tried to make the food table look similar to how the squirrels decorated the surprise part for duggee and Zach even helped! I will include photos of all the tables underneath, obviously the bouncing badge wasn't a table, it was a very small bouncy castle! We also took up our wee'un buy here!  and our rocky board for people to play with and they were a massive hi...

Yes Bebe Mission- Marine Week

Image
So this week on Instagram @yesbebeuk has been running an all new competition with the hashtag #yesbebemission! The theme for this week was marine life as it was national marine week, so all about under the sea, rock pools and beach life! This blog post is just a place where you can see all my entries and invitations to play in one post for this week! Monday I started simple as it was the first day and I used a photo I had taken the previous day of my grimms waves on the sand at Marazion beach with St Michaels mount in the background as it was just so beautiful!  Tuesday Stacking, all the blues, it was ridiculously satisfying, I used Grimms waves, blues from all the rainbows, cubes, pebbles, casa's, earth and wobbling stacker! It looked awesome and made me really like stacking where I fill all the gaps whereas I've usually just used rainbows or other bits to just stack!  Wednesday I wrote an actual blog about this day  see it here  and it was a ...

Rock Pool Invitation to Play

Image
Who doesn't love a rock pool?! Yesterday, we made salt dough creatures and last night I painted them using acrylics so today I put them to goos use and made a rock pool invitation to play for Zach for this weeks #yesbebemission !  I used Josh's Ocamora Techniques (I bought them for his Birthday as a present from Zach so they could do them together)  buy them here!  and made a circle out on the around a bunched up blue sensory silk! I then placed the salt dough creatures and stones in the middle and placed around!  Zach loved it and was straight in there, picking up all the animals, exploring the rocks and telling me what they were! He was particularly fond of the fish and starfish as he loves looking at fish (we have a fish tank and its his favourite thing to do) and he loves shape of a star! It didn't take him long to work out there was two star fish's and 2 fish so he liked pairing them up!  Zach also enjoyed stacking the salt dough cre...

Sea themed salt dough & slime

Image
This weeks #yesbebemission is based on the sea so as well as some awesome stacks, we today have made some salt dough creatures (for an ITP for tomorrow) & some sea blue slime! Yes Bebe shared a recipe for salt dough yesterday on their IG post so I made some this morning, my son helped to mix it and my cousin (who i look after once a week during summer) made some creatures! Zach loved playing with the dough and found it really fun to roll up and pat together, to be fair he liked it more than I thought he would! We made a combination of animals and some pebbles so that tomorrow I can create a rock pool! We made a jellyfish, crab, a couple fish, an anemone, some starfish, snail and some pebbles so there was a good mix just like you'd find in good rock pool. I've been painting them this evening using some acrylics to bring them to life! We also made a slime mixture today which was a huge hit with the 9 year and Zach loved playing with it after it was made! The textu...

Zach's birth story

Image
As we approach Zach's 2nd birthday, all the feels of his birth are coming back so I thought i'd actually jot them done for you guys as its something I've only briefly spoken about on my Instagram! Zach's head poking out by my ribs (weirdest bump ever!) This is gonna be a long post, I'm sorry! Zach was due on the 8th September 2017 and was head down until my 20 week scan when he decided to rebel and go transverse! All the scanners said not to worry because there was still plenty of time and when he was still transverse at my 32 week scan i had to go see the consultant to weigh up my options. The lady was lovely and said they'd try and turn him but if my waters were to break at any point go straight to hospital to reduce the risk of a cord prolapse, which is fairly unlikely but better to be safe than sorry! When I went for my ECV they tried 4 times and it was pretty horrendous but I persevered in the hopes of a NVB and a healthy risk free birth, he howeve...

Rainbow Rice Tuff Tray

Image
Who doesn't love rainbow rice?! Last time I made rainbow rice, I tried the white vinegar and food colouring recipe, it was great BUT it turned out more of a pastel rainbow which was gorgeous but I wanted bright! So I tried the paint recipe and it worked beautifully, my OH's cousin helped as she is with me one day a week through out the summer holidays!  We poured the rice into a plastic tub, added some paint and shook until it was all covered and did the same with every colour until they were all done and we put them in the sun on the tuff tray to dry out, turning occasionally to make sure it was all dry! Obviously if you don't have time for this, some places have it readily made  Tiny Land Rainbow Rice (7)   Tiny Land Rainbow Rice (5) I paired it with all the rainbows, including, our grant palos, Lanka Kade animals, Rainbow Ned, Walnut Ned and our Grimms 6 piece rainbow! I also used a couple of our tuff tray bits, like a small bucket and ...
